Welcome to Automotive Declassified! You will not see a single posting about a Ferrari or a Bently. I will let the other publications deal with them. A.D. is devoted to finding the best car or truck for you and me, everyday people who want to drive the coolest most functional vehicle for the money. I find that too many people dummy down their automotive expectations settling for a vehicle that really doesn't serve their needs. My hope with A.D. is that it will help A.D. readers to find the best bang for their buck. Now you may say to yourself, "oh sure I've heard that before from a gazillion different publications when in reality they are all the same". The difference with A.D. is that first and foremost, I am completely independent, with no affiliation to any hovering bureaucracies that can so often persuade how or what is reviewed. Secondly, I don't need to write for a national audience relying solely on MSRP's for reviews. Let's be honest If a vehicle is offering a two thousand dollar discount then that must be taken into account. I often wonder if nationally distributed magazines would have come to a different conclusion if the "real" price had been taken into account instead of the MSRP. I speak directly to the New York tri-state area and can therefore look through dozens of news papers for an idea on what the going prices are on a given week. Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus and yes dealers do make deals that are specific to a certain place, time, and inventory. Thirdly, I am the "Rain Man" of vehicles. My first word was truck, no kidding. I was the only eight year old that could tell the difference between an '84 Old's Omega and an "85. Yes I know this is pathetic, but one day it came to me, why not put these "skills" to some work!
